Run Walk Run - The Proven Method by Jeff Galloway

The Galloway Run Walk Run Method utilizes a run-walk-run method invented by Jeff Galloway, American Olympian, author, coach, avid runner and motivational speaker.

Philosophically, Jeff believes that we were all designed to run and walk, and he keeps finding ways to bring more people into the positive world of exercise.

Galloway Run Walk Run Method is open to anyone who is interested in fulfilling a lifetime goal: to run a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, 10 miler or just get started. Pace groups are set up to ensure a comfortable and safe training pace for every ability. If you're not certain about whether to join, come with us for a free test run.

Principles behind Run Walk Run:

  • Continuous use of a muscle will result in quicker fatigue
  • The longer the run segment, the more fatigue
  • Run Walk Run is a form of interval training
  • Conservation of resources
  • Quicker recovery
  • Less stress on the “weak links”
  • Ability to enjoy endorphins

      New in 2018 - Galloway Training for Great Race 10K AND EQT 10 Miler

      Last year, we offered the Galloway training program for the EQT 10 miler.  This year, we are offering a Galloway training program to prepare for the 2018 Great Race 10K (September 30, 2018) and the EQT 10 Miler (November 4, 2018) at the same price as last year’s program.  You can sign up to train for one or both races.  Note that you must be a current (dues paid) member of SCRR, and the race registration is not included in the training program fee.  

      We will kick off this program at 7:15 am on Saturday, August 25, 2018, with group runs held every Saturday morning until the week before the EQT 10 Miler, which is Sunday, November 4, 2018. We will move the start to 8:15am after Labor Day weekend.  Generally, all runs will be from the P3R Office, 801 River Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

      • First-Time Galloway training participant /1st year         $70
      • Galloway training program alumni/2nd year                 $50
      • Galloway training program alumni of 3+ years             $40

        Registration is not yet openfor the Galloway training programs for the 2019 Pittsburgh Half and Full Marathons (Sunday, May 5, 2019).  However, you can mark your calendar to remind you that the Full Marathon Galloway training will begin at 8 am on Saturday, November 10, 2018, and the Half Marathon Galloway training will begin at 8 am on Saturday, January 25, 2019. Both will be at the P3R Office, 801 River Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.  Pricing for the 2019 training program is the same as last year:

          • Alumni/2nd year                    $109
          • Alumni of 3+ years                  $69*

        *As with past years, we are offering a $69 multi-year alumni level option for people going into their 3rd (or more) year of participating in a Galloway Program (full and/or half).
