What is SCRR?
The Steel City Road Runners Club (SCRR) is dedicated to providing events, services, and programs that are aimed to keep runners doing what they love to do – RUN. SCRR caters to a wide variety of fitness levels, from the walker to the avid runner. Our coaches and ambassadors are here to help with any questions you might have along the way. Let’s run together!

How much is a membership?
SCRR membership is only $50.00 per year ($55.00 to get your membership shirt mailed to you). Some discounted memberships and specialized programs are also available. Click here to view all of the membership types.

How do I become a member?

Click here and select preferred membership level. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete a membership form. Enter payment and all done!

Are there any age restrictions for membership?

  • Ages 12 and Under - Must be accompanied by parent or guardian at all times**
  • Ages 13-15 - Parent or guardian must be present at run**
  • Ages 16-17 - Proper liability form signed by parent or guardian on file, confirmed "in case of emergency" on file
   ** Parent or legal guardian must also be current SCRR members 

Note:  Throughout the year SCRR offers dedicated coaching (marathon coaching).  For the safety and liability of all parties, we will not offer individualized coaching to minors. 


I'm already a member (or a previous member), how do I renew my membership?

  • Log into your membership profile
  • Enter your email address on file
  • Enter password or click here to reset
  • Select "Renew" button in membership profile
  • Enter payment information to complete renewal
  • Done!

When does my membership begin?
The first day of your membership begins when payment has been received and expires one year from the date your payment was received. You will receive a confirmation email once your activation occurs.

I'm already a member and I need to change my email address or other information. How do I do that?

  • Log into your membership profile
  • Update your email address or any other information
  • Click save

How do I get my member shirt?

If you selected the option to pick up your shirt, you can pick it up at any run from the SCRR Garage during the month following your signup or renewal. For example, if you joined in February, you can pick up your shirt at the SCRR garage beginning in March. This same structure applies if you selected the option to have your shirt mailed to you ($5 extra.) Shirts will be mailed as a batch on a monthly basis, the month following signup.


When does SCRR meet?
Currently SCRR meets three times per week; Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings. Please view our calendar of events from our website for specific dates, times, locations and details. 


Are dogs or other pets allowed at group runs?
No, for the safety of our members we ask that you leave all pets at home.  Service animals are permitted.

Are there involvement opportunities available?
Volunteers make it possible for the SCRR to host the different types of events and races throughout the year. SCRR offers two ways in which you can support the local community and your fellow members, 1- volunteer with us, 2 - become an ambassador or coach. 

What is the UCan2 Program?
This program will utilize a verified run-walk method developed specifically for the most novice runner. This 8-week program works towards the goal of participants completing their first 5K or improving upon a previous 5K performance.

Individuals will begin their program by learning basic concepts of form and technique. Gradually you will add mileage and speed just in time for your race. Your final week will conclude with a certified 5k race. More information about Ucan2 can be found here.

What is the Galloway Run Walk Run Method?
This
Galloway Run Walk Run Method utilizes a run-walk-run method invented by Jeff Galloway, American Olympian, author, coach, avid runner and motivational speaker. Galloway Training Program is open to anyone who is interested in fulfilling a lifetime goal: to run a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, 10 miler or just get started. Pace groups are set up to ensure a comfortable and safe training pace for every ability. If you're not certain about whether to join, come with us for a free test run.

When does Galloway Run Walk Run Method start?
Galloway Training starts on Saturday, September 9, 2017 for the EQT 10 miler, Saturday, November 11, 2017, for the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, and Saturday, January 27, 2018, for the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon.

The cost for marathon and half marathon includes your SCRR membership renewal for 2018.

What do I receive with my 10Miler Galloway Run Walk Run Method?

You will receive a custom training plan, weekly training emails, a mentor to run/pace, a Galloway technical shirt, Jeff Galloway’s best-selling e-book, and access to a private P3R Galloway Facebook page to interact with other members.


What do I receive with my Marathon/Half Marathon Galloway Run Walk Run Method?

You will receive a custom training plan, weekly training emails, a mentor to run/pace, a Galloway technical shirt, Jeff Galloway’s best-selling e-book, access to a private P3R Galloway Facebook page to interact with other members, an SCRR membership (full/half only), and a 10% discount on Pittsburgh Full/Half Marathon registration (not retroactive.)


I am currently an SCRR member; do I still need to register through Galloway Run Walk Run Method registration page?

Any SCRR member (or non-member) is welcome to join the Galloway group for one training run to try out the program. If after the initial run you would like to continue running with the Galloway group, you will need to officially register and pay for the Galloway program. Otherwise, you will not be able to run with the Galloway group.
